Hsi Fang Temple (a.k.a. San Diego Buddhist Association) is a Buddhist Temple founded in 1989, with our headquarter, Fo Guang Shan, is based in Koahsiung, Southern Taiwan.
We are from the Chinese Mahayana Tradition, 49th generation of Linji lineage (one of the Chan Meditation Schools).
Our mission is serving and sharing the Buddha’s Teachings through community services, education, philanthropy and group cultivations.
We emphasize in the daily applications of the Dharma, also known as Humanistic Buddhism.
We sponsor events like meditation retreats, Buddhist lectures, educational programs and young adults programs.
We donate Buddhism books to local universities and libraries, visiting children and senior homes.
The temple also provides a bridge of cultural exchange between the East and the West.
