Title: Forensic Buddhism by Dr. Nancy Cowardin

This talk summarizes Dr. Cowardin’s work as a forensic assessor with 25 years experience advocating for disabled inmates and defendants in the criminal justice system. Becoming a Buddhist midway through this career changed her outlook, comfort level, and effectiveness considerably. She exchanged fear, anxiety, and sadness for active compassion while at the same time adhering to the Buddha’s prescription for “right effort” and “right livelihood.”
