Ven. Chuehchuan graduated from Fo Guang Shan Buddhist College, majoring in Sutra Doctrine. She was ordained in 1990. She started her service at the International Buddhist Progress Society (I.B.P.S.), New York (1993 – 2000). Later, she was assigned to I.B.P.S., North Carolina to establish this temple.
After ten years, she was then assigned to be the Abbess of I.B.P.S., New York and the Main Representative of UN/ECOSOC NGO Buddha’s Light International Association in 2010.
During the past 6 years, besides focusing on community services, charity, education and youth programs, Ven. Chuehchuan also emphasized on interfaith activities. She was invited as one of the panelists and coordinated interfaith event with other UN NGO partners. Before assigned to Hsi Fang Temple (a.k.a. San Diego Buddhist Association), Ven. Chuehchuan was invited to Vatican for the “Dialogue and Fraternity” and meeting with the Pope Francis.
