"Thanks Buddha It's Friday" program will be on May 31st, 6:30-8:30pm (Pacific Time). The program includes a short silence meditation, light vegetarian meal provided by the temple, and followed by a special workshop on "
Single-Minded & Undistracted: Meditation & the Pure Land" by Mr. Andrew Nguy.
Short Blurb of this Lecture:
Meditation focuses on the bringing one's attention to the present moment, and on the surface, it may seem like this is at odds with the practice of Pure Land Buddhism, which emphasizes a realm far away. However, these two practices have been practiced together for centuries and are mutually beneficial. When practiced together, it is possible to achieve the Humanistic Buddhist ideal of "building a Pure Land in the Human Realm."
About the Speaker:
Andrew Nguy currently works at the Fo Guang Shan Institute of Humanistic Buddhism, where he is translating the Fo Guang Dictionary of Buddhism to make the wisdom of the Buddha more accessible to the world.
This program is hybrid mode.
