February 17, 2026 – March 1, 2026

Hsi Fang Temple (aka San Diego Buddhist Association) was founded in 1989 as a beacon of compassion, wisdom, and peace in the heart of San Diego. As part of the international Buddhist organization Fo Guang Shan, our temple follows the mission of Humanistic Buddhism — bringing the teachings of the Buddha into everyday life.
From its earliest days, Hsi Fang Temple has worked to better serve the local community, not just as a place of worship, but as a center for learning, dialogue, and service. Rooted in the belief that the Buddha’s teachings are not confined to monasteries or ancient texts, we strive to make his wisdom accessible and applicable to daily living—in the home, the workplace, and the wider world.
Our vision, “Temple in the Community. Community in the Temple,” reflects our deep commitment to mutual support and shared growth. We welcome people of all backgrounds and faiths to explore mindfulness, ethical living, and spiritual development in a modern, inclusive environment. Whether through meditation classes, educational programs, cultural celebrations, or volunteer opportunities, Hsi Fang Temple provides a space for individuals and families to find balance, compassion, and clarity in their lives.
For over three decades, we have grown alongside the community we serve. With every class taught, meal shared, and act of kindness extended, we remain dedicated to creating a more peaceful and harmonious world—starting right here in our own neighborhood.
Welcome to Hsi Fang Temple—a place where the teachings of the Buddha come alive to help all live with purpose, peace, and joy.
Hsi Fang Temple serves the communities in many various ways, from education, arts & cultural activities, community services, philanthophy, retreats, prayer services, to people of all walks of lives, from baby to seniors.
* All the Dharma services will be conducted in Chinese with English chanting books and English interpretation.
